Arsenal and Manchester United hold talks for Athletico Paranaense striker Vitor Roque
Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United have ‘held talks’ for Athletico Paranaense star Vitor Roque, whose entourage has been in Europe, according to Globe Esporte (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have discussed a possible deal for the 18-year-old. Currently, the striker’s camp are exploring the future of the striker, with a number of clubs being informed, including the Old Trafford side and the Gunners.
Apart from Man United and Mikel Aretat’s team, in the English top flight, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Aston Villa Chelsea and West Ham United also spoke with Roque’s representatives.
The 18-year-old joined Athletico Paranaense last year. Since then, the Brazil international has caught a lot of people’s attention with some impressive displays.
The youngster mostly plays in the number nine position. In 40 appearances in all competitions for the Brasileirao outfit, he has scored 10 goals and has provided three assists.
Roque was also handed his senior debut for Brazil in the recent international break. The 18-year-old came on as a substitute for the South American nation in their 2-1 defeat to Morocco.
Arsenal are flying-high at the moment. The Gunners are at the top of the Premier League table. Arteta has been able to count on Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah up top this season.
As for Man United, we have some exciting young talent in the forward line. Alejandro Garnacho has broken onto the scene this season. The Argentine has put in some clutch performances for the Red Devils under Erik ten Hag.
However, the Old Trafford side lack depth in the number nine position. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst have been underwhelming in the current campaign.

Therefore, we evidently need a new striker in our ranks. For now, Roque is still young and cannot be expected to lead the line at Man United instantly. However, with the 18-year-old’s potential, has the talent to be an understudy and backup option at the Old Trafford side.
