Athletico Paranaense wonderkid Vitor Roque is attracting interest from Manchester United despite Barcelona having an agreement in place, according to Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Blaugrana have a verbal consensus with the Brasileirao outfit regarding the 18-year-old’s move. However, the Red Devils are looking to hijack the Camp Nou side’s deal for the youngster.

As things stand, Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League rivals Chelsea also have him on their radar. To that end, the Old Trafford side and the others are willing to pay more than the €40 million fee to acquire the Brazil international’s services.

Roque is one of the most promising forwards in South America at the moment. The 18-year-old has caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays for Athletico Paranaense over the last few months.

Thus, it is not a surprise to see Barcelona wanting to acquire the Brazilian’s services. However, it will be interesting to see whether United, PSG or Chelsea will be able to entice the striker away from the Blaugrana.

At the moment, the Catalan outfit have an abundance of talent up front. Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres are all at Xavi’s disposal.

On the other hand, the Red Devils lack quality and depth in the attack. Anthony Martial is the only natural striker in our ranks currently. Last season under Erik ten Hag, the French national struggled with injuries.

Thankfully, Marcus Rashford did well in the Dutch manager’s first year in charge at the Old Trafford side. We also have Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho to call upon.

It is evident that United need to reinforce the forward line this summer. However, while Roque is promising, he is still raw and inexperienced. Therefore, it does not seem wise to spend a considerable amount on the Brazilian right now.
