Manchester United join PSG in race for Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque of Athletico Paranaense
Manchester United have joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the race for Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque of Athletico Paranaense, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Express).
The Red Devils are trying to secure the 17-year-old’s signature quickly. In order to ward off interest from other rival teams, the Old Trafford side are hoping to seal a deal soon.
Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen his attacking options in the coming months. The left-footed forward is a versatile player capable of playing out on the wings.
However, could have to pay a hefty price to the Brasileirao outfit to acquire Roque’s services. The youngster currently has a £52.5 million release clause in his contract.
PSG’s current forward line consists of world-class talents like Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. The 17-year-old’s compatriot Neymar also plies his trade with the Parisians.
Roque is currently making waves with Athletico. In 2022, the 17-year-old made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian side, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.
Ten Hag has a reputation for developing young stars. During his Ajax days, the Dutch manager got the best out of several young players, including Antony. The Brazil international signed for the Eredivisie outfit in the summer of 2020 from Sao Paulo.

United evidently need more cover in the centre-forward and right-wing positions. Roque ticks both boxes. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to get a hold of the 17-year-old.
