Fred does not rule out Manchester United in Premier League title race

Manchester United star Fred believes the Red Devils are in the race alongside Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

At the moment, the Old Trafford side are third in the English top flight. We are six points behind Pep Guardiola’s team and eight points separate the Gunners and us at the top. Since the two back-to-back losses at the start of the term, the Manchester-based club have been impressive.

Man United recently won the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium. We beat the Magpies 2-0 to end the six-year trophy drought at the Old Trafford side.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Fred has not ruled the Red Devils out of attaining glory in the league. The midfielder is adamant about fighting for the rest of the competitions the club is still in.

“(The Premier League?) For sure. We know Arsenal and City are great teams, but we have the means to fight for it. Our momentum is very good, so why not? We have three competitions left and will fight for each one of them.”

The 29-year-old made his way to Manchester in the summer of 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk. Since then, the Brazil international has been ever-present in the Old Trafford side’s senior squad.

In the current campaign, Fred has been pivotal under Erik ten Hag. With the additions to the middle of the park last summer, the 29-year-old has lost his place in the starting lineup. But the midfielder has done well when called upon.

With the injury crisis at Man United in the engine room, the Brazilian has been impressive. He scored the equaliser against Barcelona in the second leg of the playoff tie in the Europa League. We ended up winning 2-1 and progressed to the round of 16.

Next up, the Red Devils are set to welcome West Ham United to Old Trafford in the fifth round of the FA Cup. It remains to be seen how far we will go in the competition.
