Erik ten Hag promises more success in open letter to Manchester United fans

In an open letter to Manchester United fans, Erik ten Hag has promised more success and joyful days after the triumph in the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils face Newcastle United in the final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (26 February). After first-half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford, the Old Trafford side saw off the match and won 2-0.

Subsequently, in the Dutch manager’s message to fans via Metro, the gaffer is proud of the progress the team have made in the last few months. However, the former Ajax head coach has vowed to achieve more glory in the coming future.

“This group has made great strides in the last few months but there is still a lot more to come. I can assure you that everyone at Carrington will be working constantly because we know that this club and you, our supporters, deserve more great days like this.”

The win over Eddie Howe’s team ended Man United’s six-year trophy drought. Jose Mourinho was the last manager in 2017 to win the EFL Cup and the Europa League titles.

Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, the Red Devils have fallen off their pedestal. The former Scottish manager was responsible for taking us all the way in the Premier League in his final season in charge in 2012/13.

The likes of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have come and gone. But none of them have been able to win the English top flight with the Old Trafford side.

As for Ten Hag, he has exceeded expectations since the abysmal start to the campaign. The Dutch manager lost his first two competitive games in charge against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford at the Manchester-based club.

Man United are still alive in the UEL after beating Barcelona in the two-legged playoff tie. We will also face West Ham United next in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Red Devils are also firmly in the top four for now.

Hopefully, Ten Hag is able to bring more success to the Old Trafford side. It remains to be seen how many trophies we will end up lifting by the end of the season.
