Simon Jordan does not feel Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is world-class
Simon Jordan, a pundit on talkSPORT, does not feel Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is a world-class player, even after considering the form the forward is in.
The 25-year-old has been one of our best players this season. He is currently the Red Devils’ leading goal-scorer, having found the back of the net 22 times in all competitions in the current campaign.
Since the end of the 2022 World Cup, where the England international shone, he has failed to find the back of the net in just three fixtures for the Old Trafford side.
However, that has still not convinced Jordan, who, speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Daily Mail), believes Rashford cannot be deemed an elite player due to his lack of consistency over the years.
“Rashford is in a ridiculous vein of form. What I’ve always pushed back against is the characterisation that he is a world class player and he’s in an elite position.”
“A body of work and a constant level of containment puts you above everybody else. At this moment in time, while Marcus Rashford’s form is extraordinary good, I think it’s a bit silly to call him world class.”
The 25-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at United before breaking into the senior side in the 2016/17 campaign. Since then, the England international has not looked back.
Rashford has developed into a fine player over the years. However, after heartbreak with the Three Lions in Euro 2020, losing the final in the penalty shootout, the forward seemed to have lost his confidence.
Subsequently, the 25-year-old failed to make a considerable impact in the previous campaign. He was also dropped from the starting lineup, with Anthony Elanga getting regular minutes.
Thankfully, Erik ten Hag’s arrival has led to the Egland international finding his feet once again. The winger has shouldered the burden of the Red Devils’ attack in the current campaign.

While Jordan is entitled to his opinion, at the moment, there are a handful of players who are playing better than Rashford. Before his struggles in the previous campaign, the 25-year-old had shown consistency. Hopefully, the England international is able to continue his fine form for years to come.
