“If he’s got any integrity”- Marcus Rashford told to sign new Manchester United contract

Marcus Rashford told to show “integrity” and sign new Manchester United contract

Simon Jordan, a pundit on talkSPORT, has told Marcus Rashford to show “integrity” and sign a new contract at Manchester United.

The Red Devils recently triggered a one-year extension on the England international’s deal. However, the 25-year-old is tied down to the Old Trafford side only until the summer of 2024. The Manchester-based club are yet to agree terms with the forward to keep him for the long term.

Speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Express), Jordan, who formerly owned Crystal Palace, believes Rashford owes United his future for sticking with him during the 25-year-old’s thought period at the club.

“If he’s got any integrity – which is a word that doesn’t often belong in football – he should be signing a new contract with Man United because they’ve been carrying him for 18 months. He didn’t do anything for the last 18 months.”

The England international made his way through the youth ranks at the Old Trafford side and broke into the first team setup in the 2016/17 season. Subsequently, the forward became a key player for the Red Devils.

However, Rashford saw a dip in form at the start of 2021. Thereafter, with the Three Lions, the 25-year-old lost the Euro 2020 final after missing a penalty in the shootout against Italy.

Upon his return to Manchester, the England international looked short of confidence. He was unable to have an impact in the previous campaign and the forward lost his place in the starting lineup.

Thankfully, Erik ten Hag’s arrival has turned things around for United and Rashford. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net 24 times in 36 appearances this season.

Apart from him, none of our other attackers has contributed considerably in the final third. As a result, the Red Devils’ academy graduate has become a pivotal player for us.

Therefore, it would be wise for the Old Trafford side to make things official with the England international over a new deal as soon as possible. We stuck by the winger during a difficult period. Hopefully, he will reciprocate that favour.
