Chelsea and Manchester United ‘alerted’ with PSG forward Neymar available
Manchester United, along with Premier League rivals Chelsea, have been ‘alerted’ with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Neymar set to be available, according to 90min (h/t The Sun).
The Parisians are open to the Brazil international’s possible departure. A number of English top-flight sides have been spoken to about acquiring the 31-year-old’s services.
Apart from the Red Devils and the Blues, intermediaries have notified Manchester City and Newcastle United about the forward being keen on playing in England.
Recently, Neymar was also a topic of discussion between the Stamford Bridge side’s Todd Boehly and the PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi during their recent meeting.
The Brazil international’s current contract at the Parc des Princes side expires in the summer of 2027. It remains to be seen what sort of fee the 31-year-old would command if he were to part ways with the Parisians.
Neymar joined PSG in the summer of 2017 in a blockbuster transfer from Barcelona. In France, while the Brazilian has mesmerised on occasions, he has suffered a lot of injuries. In the current campaign, in 28 appearances in all competitions, the forward has scored 17 goals and has provided 16 assists.
At the moment, Christophe Galtier has Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi at his disposal as well. However, their monstrous front three have not hit the heights people expected them to. The Ligue 1 outfit recently lost the first leg to Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16.
At United, Marcus Rashford has been the talisman this season. The 25-year-old has shouldered the burden of our attack under Erik ten Hag, with either forwards not doing as much.

However, while the Red Devils evidently need reinforcements up top, is a character like Neymar the right player for Ten Hag’s team? It remains to be seen.
