Erik ten Hag demands more focus and discipline from Manchester United against Crystal Palace
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has demanded more focus and discipline from players for the game against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
In the reverse fixture on 18 January 2023 in the reverse fixture against the Eagles, the Red Devils took the lead late in the first half. However, towards the end of the match, we gave away a foul. Subsequently, Michael Olise scored a brilliant free kick in stoppage time as the game ended 1-1.
Now, the Old Trafford side will host the Selhurst Park side on Saturday (4 February). The Manchester-based club will hope to bounce back after the 3-2 defeat against Arsenal.
Speaking to the media ahead of the fixture via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag expressed his disappointment at dropping points against Palace in the last match. The gaffer has demanded that United beat Patrick Vieira’s team.
“We have always to focus on the game, no matter what, it is our job. That is why we are here, we have a lot to do against them, two weeks ago, we had a bad performance there, I wasn’t happy with the performance from us, it was 90% focus and energy and we dropped two points.
“Tomorrow we need a better game, better focus in the game, better conduct in the way of play because we have to beat them because that’s quite clear.”
Ten Hag has relatively managed to steady the ship at the Old Trafford side after an abysmal start in the league. However, the last two fixtures from the Red Devils in the English top flight have been disappointing.
We are currently fourth in the table, joint on points with Newcastle United in third. Catching Arsenal at the top is a difficult task, but anything is possible with so many games still to go. On the other hand, Palace are on a bad run, having won just one of their last five matches in the PL.

Therefore, the Manchester-based club need to go out and look to win every game. Qualifying for the Champions League should be our minimum aim this season.
It remains to be seen who the gaffer picks to start the match. We saw a glimpse of Jadon Sancho after a lengthy layoff against Reading in the FA Cup. The 22-year-old looked lively when he came on.

Hopefully, this time around, United put the game to bed early in the match. The Red Devils have an in-form forward in Marcus Rashford at the moment, who is regularly finding the back of the net.
