Chelsea to reject Manchester United January loan offer for the USA star Christian Pulisic
Premier League rivals Chelsea are set to reject loan offers for the United States star Christian Pulisic in January amidst interest from Manchester United, according to The Daily Mail (h/t The Sun).
It comes as a blow for the Red Devils as they prefer a short-term deal for the 24-year-old. While the Stamford Bridge side are open to letting the forward leave, they prefer a permanent transfer.
In the English top flight, Arsenal and Newcastle United are also eyeing a move for Pulisic. The USMNT star’s current contract with the Blues ends in the summer of 2024.
The 24-year-old signed for Chelsea in the January window of 2019 and made his way to West London in the summer after remaining at Borussia Dortmund on loan.
Initially, the forward put in some decent displays at the Stamford Bridge side. However, over the last few months, he has struggled to get into Thoma Tuchel or Graham Potter’s plans.
Pulisic has been underwhelming in the current campaign. The 24-year-old seems to have fallen out of favour, having started just three games in the English top flight. He has also played as a wing-back on occasions under Potter.
However, the American has been shining with his national side in Qatar. The Stars and Stripes have managed two draws in the group stages of the World Cup against Wales and England.
Cristiano Ronaldo abruptly leaving United has evidently dwindled the options in the attack at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. Most fans realise it will be difficult for the club to sign a quality first-team player in the winter transfer window.
