Juventus eye January transfer for Spain and Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams amidst Manchester United interest
Manchester United target and Spain star Nico Williams is being eyed by Juventus, who want to bring him to Italy from Athletic Bilbao in January, according to Spanish outlet AS (h/t The Sun).
As per Fichajes, the Red Devils are interested in the 20-year-old. Erik ten Hag is keen on bringing the youngster to the club in the winter transfer window.
However, the Old Trafford side will face competition from the Old Lady for Williams’ signature. Real Madrid and Premier League rivals Liverpool are also eyeing the 20-year-old.
But Athletic are also determined to keep a hold of their young talent. The side from Basque Country want to tie the forward down to a new contract, with his current deal ending in the summer of 2024. They will begin discussions with the winger after the World Cup.
Juventus currently have the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Angel Di Maria, Moise Kean, Arkadiusz Milik, Federico Chiesa and others to call upon in the attack. However, the Serie A giants have been underwhelming in the campaign under Massimiliano Allegri.
Williams is currently with the Spain national side in Qatar. Luis Enrique picked the youngster in his 26-man World Cup squad. The 20-year-old has come on as a substitute in both of La Furia Roja’s Group E matches against Costa Rica and Germany.
United only signed Antony to reinforce Ten Hag’s attack in the recent transfer window. However, the untimely departure of Cristiano Ronaldo means that we need to bolster the attack.
Currently, Anthony Martial is the only natural striker in the squad. Marcus Rashford has been deployed up front to good effect. Unfortunately, the England international is evidently not a long-term option for us.

Thus, signing a number nine is seemingly highly important for the Old Trafford side. However, Williams does not fit that profile, considering he plays as a winger and we have a fair few of those right now.
