Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United will bring young players who deserve to play for Aston Villa clash
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that he is willing to give youngsters who deserve a chance the opportunity against Aston Villa. The Red Devils take on the Villans in the Carabao Cup third round on Thursday (10 November).
Alejandro Garnacho has been given regular game time in recent weeks in the first team. And he has performed well. The Argentine has brought energy and directness in the final third for the Old Trafford side.
Speaking in a special press conference with United supporters via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag was asked whether the 18-year-old and other youngsters would get an opportunity against Villa. And the Dutch manager was open to the idea.
“I am open to bringing young players, you have seen the last couple of games we bring in Alejandro Garnacho because he deserves it by his performances on the training pitch, and if players deserve it and can contribute to our success, we will bring them.”
The Red Devils take on Unai Emery’s team for the second consecutive game after losing 3-1 against the Birmingham-based club in the Premier League.
The Lions had a quick start at Villa Park. Leon Bailey and Lucas Digne gave the Villans an early two-goal lead. Luke Shaw did manage to halve the deficit just before the break, though, with his attempted shot taking a big deflection and beating Emiliano Martinez.
Unfortunately, the Old Trafford side found themselves two goals down once again with Jacob Ramsay scoring a few minutes after the start of the second half.
United were disappointing against Villa. We had been on an unbeaten run of nine games in all competitions before Emery managed to get the better of us.
However, the Lions will visit Old Trafford this time around and it is a chance for the Red Devils to redeem themselves. However, it remains to be seen whether the two sides opt to field their strongest sides.
