Napoli forward Victor Osimhen of interest as Manchester United draw up striker transfer shortlist
Manchester United are shortlisting transfer targets for a goalscorer and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen is one of the names being eyed by the club, according to Manchester Evening News.
The 23-year-old Nigerian is of interest to the Red Devils as he has performed well in two European leagues. The Old Trafford side are compiling long and shortlists ahead of the upcoming transfer windows.
United feel they have enough players who can play on the left-hand side of the attack. Thus, in the summer of 2022, Erik ten Hag recommended a right-winger in Antony.
However, the number nine position is a cause for concern for some fans. And supporters would prefer the club bring in reinforcements in the winter transfer window. But the club are keen on starting the second phase of their rebuild next summer.
Marcus Rashford has been preferred by the Dutch manager to lead the line at United. And the England international has been pivotal for us in the current campaign. He has scored in the big games and moments and is the current top goalscorer this season for the Red Devils.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who many expected to be our talisman once again this term, has struggled in front of goal. The Portugal international has only recently gotten into Ten Hag’s plans. However, he has been underwhelming.
Anthony Martial is another centre-forward the former Ajax head coach has not been able to count on. The France international has been on the sidelines for most of the campaign.
But Rashford cannot be expected to be our striker in the long run. While he has done well this season, the 25-year-old leaves a lot to be desired in front of goal.

Osimhen proved his qualities at LOSC Lille and is now the leading man for the high-flying Napoli. However, whether United can convince him to move to Manchester remains to be seen.
