Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United forward Anthony Martial still out with injury for Chelsea fixture
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed Anthony Martial is still out with an injury and unavailable for the Chelsea game, according to PA Media chief writer Simon Peach via Samuel Luckhurst on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 26-year-old has been on the sidelines for most of the season. The Frenchman has had issues with his fitness and he cannot seem to catch a break. The former AS Monaco forward has suffered multiple setbacks in the current campaign.
Martial missed the first two games of the season after picking up a knock during pre-season. The striker made a winning return against Liverpool, coming on as a substitute in the second half. The Red Devils won the North West derby 2-1, with the French national providing the assist for the second goal.
However, he was ruled out once again and was on the sidelines until the Manchester derby. United lost 6-3 against Manchester City at the Etihad. The 26-year-old played for over half an hour and bagged two goals.
Martial also featured in the Europa League for the first time against Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus. Once again, the striker found the back of the net as the Red Devils won 3-2.
Subsequently, the Frenchman was handed his first start of the 2022/23 campaign against Everton at Goodison Park. And he assisted Antony for the equalising goal at the quarter-hour mark as we won 2-1. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old had to be withdrawn after playing for less than 30 minutes.
United have been lucky with Marcus Rashford performing well as the centre-forward. The England international is currently the Old Trafford side’s top goalscorer this season.

However, fans hope Martial is able to get over his injury issues. The Frenchman has made an impact whenever he has played. But it remains to be seen whether the 26-year-old is able to maintain his fitness throughout the campaign.
