Manchester United striker Anthony Martial expected to spend lengthy spell on sidelines with injury
Anthony Martial is expected to spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury during the Manchester United vs Fulham fixture.
The Red Devils took on the Cottagers in the final game of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign. After going a goal down at home, the Old Trafford side made a comeback and won 2-1. The French national came on as a substitute in the 67th minute.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag gave a sobering update on the 27-year-old’s fitness issue. The gaffer fears the striker will be out for a long time.

“Yeah, going to be a long one but how long we don’t know. We have to do more assessment.”
Martial has suffered multiple injuries this season. The forward has mostly been unavailable since the Dutch manager’s arrival.
The French national has not completed 90 minutes in any game in the current campaign. He has missed 27 games in all competitions for United this season due to fitness issues.
Now, the striker will also be out of action as the Red Devils take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final on 3 June at Wembley Stadium. It will be interesting to see how Ten Hag will set up the team.

Wout Weghorst was signed on loan from Burnley in January as cover in the number nine position. The Holland international has featured heavily in the starting lineup for the Old Trafford side over the last few months.
The Dutch manager has also used Marcus Rashford out of position and has played him as a striker in the current campaign. The England international has shouldered the burden of the Manchester-based club’s attack this season.
