A January switch is possible for Cody Gakpo amidst Manchester United interest

PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo prefers a move to a ‘bigger club’ like Manchester United, with a January transfer not ruled out, according to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Leeds United are interested in the 23-year-old. However, the Peacocks do not have an agreement in principle for the Holland international. The forward is also not keen on a move to West Yorkshire.

Other clubs associated with Gakpo are Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. However, it remains to be seen whether the Eredivisie star leaves the Red and Whited in the winter.

Man United tried to get their hands on Gakpo in the recent transfer window. But unfortunately, the Red Devils failed to convince PSV to part ways with the Holland international.

Since then, Gakpo has gone from strength to strength and has not let the failed move weigh him down. The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the Dutch outfit this season.

In the 2022/23 campaign, Gakpo has 13 goals and 10 assists to his name in all competitions. And the forward has only played in 16 games so far.

Man United ended the summer 2022 transfer window with just one signing for the attacking line. Erik ten Hag reunited with Antony from Ajax. The Brazilian has had a quick start to his career in Manchester.

Antony has been immediately put into the starting lineup by the gaffer. The 22-year-old started against Arsenal for his debut and scored the first goal in the 3-1 victory. The Brazilian has gone on to score consecutively in his first three Premier League matches.

Considering the impact the Eredivisie winger has made, fans would love to see what Gakpo would be able to do in a red shirt. However, whether Man United consider going after the Holland international’s signature remains to be seen.
