Scott McTominay will not join Bayern Munich from Manchester United this summer

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay will not be joining Bayern Munich in the ongoing transfer window, according to Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.

The Bavarians were looking to acquire the services of the Scotland international this summer. However, as things stand, it is not likely that the 26-year-old will make his way to the Bundesliga giants.

To that end, the Allianz Arena side are currently focusing on getting a hold of the signature of Joao Palhinha from Fulham to bolster their engine room. Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier is also an option for the German outfit.

Thomas Tuchel has an abundance of talent in the middle of the park at his disposal. Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer are some of the stars at the former Chelsea head coach’s disposal.

McTominay has made his way through the youth ranks at United. Over the years, the midfielder has been a key player for and has made a place for himself in the senior squad.

However, since Erik ten Hag’s arrival in the Red Devils’ dugout, the Scottish national has found game time hard to come by. He has warmed the bench mostly this season, coming on as a substitute in the final minutes against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.

At United, Casemiro has cemented his place in the number six position since arriving from Real Madrid last summer. The 31-year-old has started in a majority of the matches under the former Ajax Amsterdam head coach.

As a result, McTominay has had to bide his time for minutes on the pitch. But at the moment, the Old Trafford side lack adequate cover in the engine room for the Brazilian. Therefore, keeping a hold of the Scottish national would make sense unless we add reinforcements.

Strength in depth is arguably going to be key for the Red Devils to compete for titles in the current campaign. However, it remains to be seen whether McTominay will be part of our squad by the end of the transfer window.
