Representatives of Alejandro Garnacho to sit down with Manchester United to talk about long-term contract
Manchester United will sit down with the representatives of Alejandro Garnacho to hash out terms for a new long-term contract, according to AS via Sport Witness (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are set to hold talks with the young Argentine’s agents in the coming days. He has established himself as one of the best youngsters at the club.
Garnacho signed for United in the summer of 2020 from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid. Since then, the 18-year-old has spent most of his time with the youth teams. However, the Argentine’s impressive performances have led to him being in Erik ten Hag’s first team training squad.
In United’s 1-1 draw in the Premier League against Chelsea in April 2022, Garnacho made his debut. The forward came on for the final minutes of the game for the Red Devils.
Garnacho has vast potential
Under the new gaffer, Garnacho has been on the United bench. The 18-year-old played significant minutes in the UEFA Europa League against Real Sociedad. Unfortunately, the Old Trafford side lost 1-0 against the La Liga club.
Garnacho is a left-winger by trade. However, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford hold that side of the attack. And the English duo have found form under the former Ajax head coach.
Rashford has especially been able to turn things around. Last season, the 24-year-old struggled to find his feet. The England international barely had an impact when he played for the Old Trafford side.
On the other hand, the right-wing position has been occupied by Antony in recent weeks. The 22-year-old is evidently someone Ten Hag has faith in. The Brazilian has started every game since his arrival in Manchester.
