Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi being monitored by Manchester United scouts
Manchester United scouts are monitoring Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t The Sun). The 23-year-old is in demand, with several teams keeping an eye on him.
In the Premier League, clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion have been credited with an interest in Frattesi. In Italy, Roma and Inter Milan have been linked with the midfielder.
Frattesi joined Sassuolo in 2017 from the Giallorossi. However, it was only in the 2021/22 season that the 23-year-old found regular game time with the Neroverdi.
The midfielder spent time on loan at Ascoli Calcio, FC Empoli and AC Monza in Italian football’s second tier before getting his chances in Sassuolo’s first team.
In the previous campaign, Frattesi made 38 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit. The 23-year-old mostly played in the number eight role, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
This season, Frattesi has started in all 10 games the Neroverdi have played. The 23-year-old has also forced himself into Roberto Mancini’s Italian squad this year.
United made a couple of additions to the middle of the park in the summer of 2022. The Red Devils signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the recent transfer window.
However, considering the duo are in their 30s, United evidently need to look at young players who have the ability to secure the middle of the park for years to come. And Frattesi is a mobile player capable of being a long-term option.
