Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire amongst players sidelined for Manchester United due to injury against Omonia Nicosia

Manchester United will be without Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire, who have been sidelined due to injury, against Omonia Nicosia. The Red Devils travel to Cyprus for the third Europa League game of the group stage.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek will also miss the tie. The English and Dutch stars have not featured much for United this season.

Speaking ahead of the game against Omonia via Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag revealed that our two centre-backs would not be travelling to Cyprus but is hopeful of their return. However, the gaffer does not know when Wan-Bissaka and Van de Beek will be able to participate.

“Not available for tomorrow. In case of Raphael [Varane], I have good hope [back soon], Harry will take a little bit longer and the other two I cannot give [update].”

United are coming off a damaging defeat against Manchester City. The Sky Blues beat us 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium. And the Red Devils had no answers for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Maguire picked up a knock with England during the recent international break. Varane limped off before the end of the first half and was replaced by Victor Lindelof. City went into the break with a four-goal lead. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both scored a brace.

Antony scored a long-range effort early in the second half. However, the Sky Blues’ Norwegian and English attackers both scored again to complete their hat tricks.

Anthony Martial got two late consolation goals. However, City had evidently taken their foot off the gas by then. And overall, the Red Devils were poor at the Etihad.

In the UEL, United lost the first game against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford. We managed to get three points on the board with a win against Sheriff Tiraspol.

Now, United face Omonia away. The team from Cyprus will seemingly be up for it, considering the magnitude of the Manchester-based club. Hopefully, the Red Devils get the job done against Neil Lennon’s side before the game against Everton on the weekend.
