Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed Victor Lindelof is back in training. However, Anthony Martial is still out through injury. The Frenchman is suffering from an Achilles injury.

The Swedish centre-back has been out for three weeks. Lindelof played a big part in pre-season. However, the 28-year-old has missed the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag gave an update on Lindelof and Martial. While the Sweden international took part in a session, the centre-forward is still unavailable.

“Victor Lindelof is training with the team, we will see today how far he is. Just one session, he was out for three weeks.

“Martial is not available.”

Martial played a big part under Ten Hag during pre-season. The France international was in fine form. However, he picked up a hamstring injury before the start of the new campaign.

The 26-year-old was on the sidelines for the first two fixtures against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. United struggled in both matches and lost them.

Martial returned to the bench against Liverpool. The former Monaco star came off the bench in the second half and put in an excellent performance. He set up Marcus Rashford for the second goal.

However, the French national sustained an injury in training before the Southampton game and has been missing in action ever since. There has been no indication of when Martial will return.

On the other hand, Lindelof will come back into a team that seems to have found a solid centre-back partnership. Harry Maguire has been relegated to the bench. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have started the last two matches.

The Swedish national gives Ten Hag another option to choose from. As of now, we have a lot of depth in the centre-back position, which is a good thing.

As for our attack, Martial seems to be key for us. However, the Red Devils have also signed Antony from Ajax. It remains to be seen what side United feel when all our players are back to full fitness.
