Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have another transfer destination this summer. Olympique Marseille are studying the feasibility of the Portuguese moving to the Orange Velodrome.

Ronaldo has been angling for a move away from the club all summer. A number of clubs have been mooted by the 37-year-old’s agent Jorge Mendes, but none have taken a chance on the Portuguese.

Speaking via Bild (h/t talkSPORT), former Marseille player Jean-Charles De Bono claimed that the French outfit has looked over the positives of signing Ronaldo this summer. Les Olympiens have gone over the financial impact of the Portuguese.

“A study is being carried out to find out what Ronaldo could bring to the club financially

“Olympique decided to study the impact Ronaldo is having on sponsors around the world to bring them to Marseille.”

Ronaldo certainly does have a lot of appeal in world football. The 37-year-old has been one of the best players in the world for almost two decades now. And with that comes a lot of fan following. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is amongst the most successful professionals in world football.

The Portuguese legend made his return to Manchester last summer, having left for Real Madrid in 2009. His homecoming was met with a lot of fanfare. There was renewed hope amongst the supporters of United challenging for trophies once again.

In the same window the club signed Ronaldo, we also got the likes of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. However, the Red Devils finished the 2021/22 season with their lowest points tally in the Premier League era.

United failed to make it to the top four and missed out on Champions League football for the 2022/23 campaign. This has been one of the points of contention for the 37-year-old who wants to play in European football’s biggest competition.

Marseille finished as runners-up in Ligue 1 in the previous campaign. They will be competing in the UCL this season.
