Transfer News: Erik ten Hag wants to keep Anthony Martial despite offers
According to popular Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has decided to keep talented French superstar Anthony Martial despite a couple of offers.
To say that Martial’s fortunes have turned upside down in recent weeks will be an understatement. It was widely expected that the Red Devils would want to sell the Frenchman but pre-season has surely turned around his fortunes.
With Cristiano Ronaldo failing to show up to the pre-season tour and his future at the club far from certain, it has opened up a window of opportunity for Martial and the former Golden boy has taken the chance.
Martial has impressed in every single pre-season game so far and his link-up play with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford has been exceptional. It has given us a glimpse of what could be possible with the trio next season.
The Frenchman has had a couple of seasons to forget, failing to put in performances of any significance. He was loaned out to Sevilla which did not turn out as expected with Martial struggling in Spain.
His move to Spain was expected to help Martial resurrect his faltering career but it only made matters worse. With the La Liga club not making the move permanent, the French striker found himself back at Old Trafford.
If the pre-season performances are anything to go by, Martial really fits well into an Erik ten Hag system. He could turn out to be a huge player for Man United next season if things go according to plan.
A huge season is on the cards for the player and he will be looking to prove himself in England. Pre-season isn’t the best time to judge how a player will do in competitive games but it is surely a positive sign that he is playing well.
