Transfer News: Bayern Munich not pursuing Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong

According to Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Bayern Munich have decided against pursuing the talented Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona this summer.

The European giants were considering the possibility of signing the talented Barcelona midfielder but have decided against it after making other reinforcements this summer. The Bavarians have already secured the signings of Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt.

Manchester United have been interested in signing Frenkie throughout this summer but the saga has kept dragging on with the player increasingly unwilling to come to Old Trafford and reunite with Erik ten Hag.

Man United are still pushing, hoping to convince the talented midfielder to change his mind but it is looking like a futile attempt at least as of now. The fact that we cannot offer Champions League football continues to haunt us.

Frenkie de Jong at his best is a world-class midfielder. There are not many players in the world who are as talented as the Dutch superstar and on his day, he could be absolutely unplayable at times and change games on his own.

The 25-year-old joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe. His performances have been solid but there is always a feeling that he could be better.

Erik ten Hag is very keen on signing the player he developed into a world-class player during their time at Ajax but with every passing day, it looks like this is a transfer that may not be completed after all.

Man United would be wise to have alternatives lined up in case they fail to sign the Barcelona man. Reinforcements in midfield are the need of the hour and we would be smart to ensure that we have multiple options for that position.
