According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are willing to entertain offers to facilitate a move for Brandon Williams in the summer transfer window. This decision is a shocking one, to say the least, as one could argue that he deserves to get opportunities to make a case for himself at Old Trafford.
Williams has a current contract with Man United until 2024, but it seems that he will leave the club before fulfilling that deal. He had joined Norwich City on a season-long loan move at the start of this season. The defender has already expressed that he would only remain at his parent club if regular minutes can be guaranteed in the next term.
However, the Red Devils have now informed the Englishman that they cannot provide him with sufficient game time, prompting them to take this stance. It remains to be seen whether they can get a solid transfer fee for his potential sale that could take place following this update.
Good decision from Man Utd?
The decision to let the 21-year-old depart the club is a surprising one for sure, considering how he could have become a key player for us in the future. He has been a regular for Norwich in the current campaign and has earned valuable Premier League experience in the process.
While we have Luke Shaw and Alex Telles in the squad right now, one could argue how Telles could have been allowed to leave instead this summer. After all, the former Porto man has quite often disappointed even when Shaw was out of contention, and his depressing form could have led to the end of the road for his time at Carrington.
However, Williams has been sacrificed when perhaps he should have stayed moving forward. Playing second fiddle to Shaw, for example, would still give him a prominent role, so questions can be raised about how he has not been given any opportunities before taking this shocking stance.
