Erik ten Hag admits Donny van de Beek and Brandon Williams looking for Manchester United exit
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that Donny van de Beek and Brandon Williams are looking for a move away from the club this summer.
The Red Devils took on Tottenham Hotspur on 19 August away from home in the Premier League. Spurs were the dominant side for most of the game and beat us. The Holland national and the England U21 international were absent from the squad for the 2-0 loss.
Harry Maguire was also not available for the game in North London. However, speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag revealed that the centre-back was out due to an injury. On the other hand, the midfielder and full-back were preoccupied due to their uncertain future.
“Yesterday, the final training, ‘H’ fell out with a small issue and after September 1 everything can change, but we need players who are totally with their heads in our team. And, I wouldn’t say the players you just mentioned, they are not, but it’s also obvious in this moment they are looking for something else.”
United signed Van de Beek in the summer of 2020 from Ajax Amsterdam. The midfielder was a promising talent at the Eredivisie outfit.
Unfortunately, the 26-year-old has struggled to live up to his potential at the Old Trafford side. Over the years, injuries have hampered the Holland national’s development as well.
As for Williams, he made his way through the youth ranks at the Red Devils. Subsequently, the full-back has been in and out of the team. In the previous campaign, the defender was hardly handed any minutes.
The 22-year-old enjoyed his best spell on loan at Norwich City in the 2021/22 term. Therefore, it seems wise for the English national to once again part ways with the club in the coming weeks.
In the engine room, Ten Hag has bolstered his ranks with the addition of Mason Mount. As for the full-back positions, the gaffer can call upon the likes of Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

It is understandable that the Dutch manager kept the two players out of the squad. Having players not committed to the project in the team is not a wise option.
