Manchester United might not have to face Chelsea for the signing of Serie A star

According to a report by Express, Manchester United might not have to go up against Chelsea in the race to sign Serie A star, Victor Osimhen. It is being reported that the Blues have now started to look at alternatives.

While Osimhen still seems to be the priority for Chelsea, they are also looking at Inter Milan star, Lautaro Martinez. An argument could be made about the 26-year-old being better than the Nigeria striker.

Signing either can instantly uplift the attacking lineup of any team and Manchester United cannot afford to miss out on that. Their attack leaves a lot to be desired and better players are the need of the hour.

In 24 appearances this season, Osimhen has recorded 13 goals and four assists for Napoli. On the other hand, Lautaro Martinez has recorded 26 goals and five assists in 37 appearances a better sight in front of goal.

Also worth noting is the health of both players. While 26-year-old Martinez has been available for almost every game, 25-year-old Osimhen has 11 games due to injury.

Victor has struggled with injuries in his young career, which Manchester United needs to be wary of. Martinez on the other hand is solid as a rock and could easily end up being a better signing than the Nigerian.

Osimhen is a solid player, hopefully, he’ll be able to stay healthy if a move to the Premier League ends up formalising during the summer.
