The Glazers ready to make Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag next Manchester United manager due to one major factor

According to The Mirror, The Glazers could hire Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag as the next Manchester United manager due to his ability to churn out performances from players that failed to cut it in the Premier League, and think of him as the manager to bring back the ‘glory days’ at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer three weeks ago and appointed Michael Carrick before hiring Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager. It has been a smooth transition since they are yet to lose after sacking the Norwegian.

However, the German manager is only going to stay on till the end of the season, after which he is set to be appointed as a consultant. There will be a managerial vacancy, and the Glazers are now planning on hiring Erik Ten Hag for that role.

The American owners apparently admire how the Dutchman has transformed players that have failed to cut it in the Premier League. Dusan Tadic, Daley, Blind, Sebastian Haller, and several others could not make it big in the English top-flight. But Ten Hag has churned the best out of them in recent years.

His development of the youth could also be an influencing factor. Over the last four years, the Ajax boss has honed the talent of Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, Hakim Ziyech, Ryan Gravenberch, and multiple others. Man United have had a homegrown player in their squad for the last 83 years, courtesy of which Ten Hag could be a good appointment considering we would want to keep that trend going.

Smart decision

If there is a manager that can take over from Rangnick next season, few can do it better than the Dutch boss. His Ajax side has shown impressive high-pressing football and his ability to keep them going for the top prizes despite losing important players in the transfer windows is also an ode to his ability as a manager.

Man United have a lot of young talent within their ranks and some experienced professionals. With a couple of good signings next summer, they could be a force to reckon with.

Put a manager like Ten Hag to coach them coupled with Rangnick looking over them, it could not be long before the Red Devils wine and dine with the best in Europe again. There is a cultural shift going on at Old Trafford as well, with Ed Woodward also set to depart soon.

Thus, a new era is beginning to take shape and perhaps putting proper football people behind footballing decisions would serve us well. The Dutchman recently revealed that he is open to a new challenge, and if the Glazers can convince him to jump ship to England, there are exciting times ahead for us.

It remains to be seen how Rangnick fares during his spell in Manchester United but either way, it would be beneficial for the Red Devils if they hire a man with recent managerial experience in one of Europe’s top leagues.
