Transfer News: Manchester United ace Andreas Pereira plots permanent exit amidst potential Flamengo move
Speaking to ESPN, as quoted by The Metro, Andreas Pereira revealed that he wants to depart Manchester United on a permanent basis and seal a move to Flamengo.
The 25-year-old signed for the Red Devils in 2018 under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. However, he struggled for game-time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has only made 45 appearances in his 3-year career at the club.
In that time, he has also secured loan moves to Lazio, Valencia, and Granada. He joined Flamengo this summer and has been in respectable form, evidenced by his five goals in sixteen appearances.
The midfielder has now revealed that he would like to stay at Flamengo for as long as possible, indicating he wants to seal a permanent exit from Man United.
“My desire has always been to stay here at Flamengo, and now we are going to do everything. We are going to talk to President Landim and Marcos Braz to make this possible. Of course, I have a feeling that I owe the fans a title. As I told them, you can count on me. I will do my best so that next year we can come out with those titles there.”
A much-needed move
The Brazilian international could not cut it in the Premier League. He was often on the fringes of first-team action and failed to topple Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, and Fred from the starting line-up.
He is excelling at Flamengo and is perhaps far more comfortable operating in his home country. United would be smart to let him go if the Campeonato Brasileiro side offer a reasonable fee to sign him.
The Red Devils would be looking to strengthen in the market next summer, and getting a fringe star off the wage bill and securing some money from his move could go a long way in landing our targets. That is, of course, if such a situation becomes possible.
Thus, if the Brazilian club is willing to sign the central midfielder, Man United should let him go since it does not look like he is going to break into the first team anytime soon.

We already have several attacking players in our squad and our decision to loan him out to Brazil this season shows what we think of him in terms of being a first-team player. It remains to be seen what Ralf Rangnick, our new interim manager, thinks of him.
But regardless of that, it would be smart for us to offload players we don’t need from the squad and make way for potential new signings- one that may fit Rangnick’s ideology, or the ideology of whoever takes over from him this summer.
