Transfer News: Andreas Pereira has agreed a switch from Manchester United to Fulham

According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Fulham have reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign out-of-favour Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira for £10m plus £3m add-ons.

Pereira’s career at Old Trafford has not shaped out as planned with the once very highly rated Brazilian failing to live up to the hype. He has struggled in a Red Devils shirt and was loaned out to Flamengo at the beginning of the season.

Despite returning to Old Trafford once his previous loan spell finished, he was widely expected to be shipped out ahead of next season and that’s exactly what has happened with the Brazilian now close to joining Fulham.

The newly-promoted PL club will hope that a transfer to them will see the re-birth of Pereira and that he can unearth the hidden talent and potential we all know he possesses and help the club stay afloat in the top flight of English football.

Having joined the club from PSV Eindhoven in 2012, Pereira has progressed through the youth ranks at Man United before breaking into the first team in 2015. He has since then been loaned out to a number of clubs.

In 29 matches in the Brazilian football league this season, the 26-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists across all competitions. Whilst he has not been dismal, Pereira is capable of doing much more.

Man United are never going to see Pereira achieve what he is capable of in a Red Devils shirt but that does not mean the end of the road for the player. A new beginning might provide the Brazilian with a new start to resurrect his faltering career.

Fulham could do with a player of the 26-year-old’s abilities and if they trust him with a prominent role in the first team, and give him the confidence he has lacked during his time here, this could turn out to be a very shrewd signing.
