Transfer News: Manchester United are interested in signing Wissam Ben Yedder from Monaco

According to Media Foot in France, Wissam Ben Yedder is the subject of interest from Manchester United over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

Before breaking through in his professional career at Sevilla, Ben Yedder played at UJA Alfortville and Toulouse. The skilful striker developed steadily over the course of his three years with the Andalusian club, becoming one of La Liga’s top forwards.

Since joining AS Monaco in August 2019, the 31-year-old has completely upped his game and is now scoring goals just for fun. The French international just finished with 32 goals in 52 games across all competitions, which was his highest goal-scoring season to date.

Ben Yedder, though, might depart Monaco this summer as Manchester United and Wolves are keeping a careful eye on his circumstances at Stade Louis II.

Bruno Lage’s team seems to be more concerned as they are ‘thinking of leading a concrete attack’ for the striker in the near future.

Ten Hag doesn’t have many options right now for playing up front. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are the only seasoned wingers in the team now that Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani have left.

Even though Anthony Elanga showed promise last season, the 20-year-old is still too young to handle the stress of representing United every single week. Although the 17-year-old Alejandro Garnacho is a strong talent, he has only made two senior appearances.

Since coming back to Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo has been one of the Red Devils’ top forwards. But it is unrealistic to expect the 37-year-old to play every game for 90 minutes. Furthermore, Anthony Martial’s future is uncertain, and counting on him could turn dangerous.

Because of this, it’s necessary that United recruit at least two forwards who can join the club and have an immediate impact, and given Ben Yedder’s extensive experience, he looks to fit the criteria.

The 31-year-old French international is in excellent physical condition and is familiar with the difficulties of competing against the best European Leagues. Ben Yedder will therefore be able to have an immediate impact upon joining United, although United haven’t shown any genuine approach to signing him until now.
