According to the Mirror, the new manager of Manchester United Erik ten Hag is prepared to offload Alex Telles during the summer transfer window after the Brazilian was involved in a brawl on the training field.

Telles was transferred from Porto to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window of 2020 and was anticipated to be a success. Luke Shaw performed well for England and Man Utd, the 29-year-old Brazilian frequently went in and out of the lineup and found it difficult to replace him.

Telles and Hannibal Mejbri allegedly got into a fight in May at the club’s Carrington training facility just days after United’s 4-0 humiliation at Brighton. It is believed that the occurrence at their complex left the team’s players “shocked”.

Ralf Rangnick was compelled to end the session early after the incident took place. Players made an effort to calm the situation when Hannibal and Telles, who are 10 years apart in age, created a big fuss in front of the whole squad.

New Manchester United manager Ten Hag is eager to establish himself in the locker room and make it clear that infractions of discipline won’t be tolerated and it seems the Dutchman is keen to offload the Brazilian star.

The Brazilian’s time at Manchester United has seen both highs and lows. The full-back didn’t seem to be a favourite of former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who frequently favoured Luke Shaw.

Telles has only played 50 times with the Red Devils since signing with them in October 2020. His performance this season hasn’t changed much because he has just made 21 Premier League outings.

At his age, he doesn’t have a long time left at the top and could want more playing time. A place in Brazil’s lineup would also be up for grabs with the World Cup later this year, but regular playing time at club level would be important for that.

The decision to offload him could be wise because Telles isn’t having a significant impact on how the club performs on the field. However, Shaw is difficult to beat in the hierarchy, and the English footballer has excelled over the past few seasons.

Mejbri, meanwhile, has a bit of a temper when playing football. Just take a look at his cameos last season and you would see the passion he has when he goes into tackles.

Training ground bust-ups are a part of playing football. If that is a big reason behind Telles being potentially offloaded, then perhaps the incident was too good to overlook.
