Transfer News: Manchester United suffer blow as Barcelona remain interested in signing RB Leipzig ace Dani Olmo
According to transfer news on Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Express), Barcelona are still interested in signing RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo amidst interest from Manchester United. The Catalan giants are also believed to be after another Spanish winger in Ferran Torres.
The 23-year-old joined the German club from Dinamo Zagreb at the start of last year. The midfielder played a pivotal part in helping the club to the semi-final of the 2019/20 Champions League season.
All in all, the playmaker has contributed to 26 goals in 67 appearances across all competitions. However, he may be heading for the exit door now. Barcelona are interested in orchestrating a move, including new manager Xavi.
The former Barcelona midfielder left Al Sadd earlier this month to join the Blaugrana club. Their interest in Olmo makes sense as the Spaniard is a La Masia graduate. He left the Nou Camp in 2016 after failing to garner chances in the youth setup.
However, Barcelona’s interest is not good news for Man United. The Red Devils are eager on a deal for the Spanish international, especially after his performances for Leipzig.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be set to lose some of his key players soon. Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba could depart next summer once their contracts expire. Jesse Lingard might push for a move in January after snubbing the latest contract offer by the club.

Donny van de Beek could be on his way out in 2022 after failing to garner a league start this season. If the quartet leaves the club, it would be a huge loss of goals and creativity. At 23, Olmo could provide both these elements for a long time to come.
However, if Barcelona offer him a way back to his home country, it could become hard for the Red Devils to convince him to come to Manchester.
