Manchester United are eyeing a summer backup for French playmaker target
As reported by Spanish publication Fichajes, Manchester United have plans to sign Dani Olmo if they fail to sign Michael Olise this summer. The club has long been linked to the French playmaker and are sure to go after him when the transfer window opens.
The 22-year-old has been extremely impressive during his time with Crystal Palace. In 11 appearances this season, Olise has recorded six goals and three assists. However, he has also missed 23 games due to an injury.
This could be concerning for Man United. Moreover, there is no guarantee that even if his fitness isn’t an issue, the 22-year-old will be making his way to Old Trafford. Olise has a lot of top-flight clubs interested in him and could opt for a different destination.
The Red Devils are prepared though and have been keeping tabs on RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has made 20 appearances this season recording seven goals and four assists.
His command over the midfield has also been a treat for the fans. Olmo has a real eye for attack and his shot selection and eye for the right pass are both admirable. Man United would greatly benefit from adding him to the mix.
However, the Red Devils won’t be able to guarantee him regular playing time since they already have Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount playing as attacking midfielders. This could discourage Olmo from making a move to United.

While it is good to see the Red Devils planning for the future, they’ll have to make it worth it for Dani Olmo if they wish to use him as a backup.
