Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Dani Olmo at RB Leipzig ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Bild via Sport Witness (h/t Express).

The Spain international is ‘leaning’ towards an exit from the Bundesliga outfit in the coming months. At the moment, the midfielder’s camp are weighing up a number of proposals as he looks to take on a new challenge and will be available for just £35 million at the end of the season.

To that end, the Red Devils have asked about the 24-year-old’s future plans. However, the Old Trafford side have been told that a top-four finish is a must.

Olmo signed for Leipzig in January 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb. Over the years, the playmaker has shown immense talent at the Red Bull Arena side. However, in recent months, injuries have hampered the midfielder.

In the current campaign, the 24-year-old has been unable to showcase the full extent of his skills due to fitness issues. However, in 23 appearances in all competitions, the Spaniard has found the back of the net four times and has provided six assists.

Olmo is a versatile player. Apart from playing in the number 10 position, he is also capable of playing on the wings. When Luis Enrique was Spain’s manager, the 24-year-old was a constant fixture in his national side’s attack.

However, United already have Bruno Fernandes featuring in the attacking midfield position. The Portugal international is a pivotal player for Erik ten Hag.

On the other hand, out wide, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho have done well since the Dutch manager’s arrival.

However, it would evidently not hurt to have a quality player like Olmo in the team. The 24-year-old has been underwhelming of late. But Ten Hag has helped a lot of players find their feet at the Old Trafford side. But it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard will sign for us.
