Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hails Manchester United duo Edinson Cavani and ‘unplayable’ Scott McTominay in Tottenham Hotspur victory

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game (h/t The Sun), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed Manchester United duo Edinson Cavani and Scott McTominay for their brilliant performances against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils were incredible on the night as they picked apart Spurs on the counter-attack. Solskjaer made two changes from the game against Liverpool as Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood were dropped for Cavani & Raphael Varane.

One partnership, however, that made all the headlines was one of Cristiano Ronaldo and Cavani. The two veterans combined successfully with each finding the back of the net against the North London club.

The defence was also wonderful on the night, thanks to the constant protection provided by McTominay & Fred. The Scotsman, in particular, was outstanding in his box-to-box efforts. Solskjaer was quick to hail Cavani and his 25-year-old midfielder after the game. He told Sky Sports (h/t The Sun):

“I’ve been here more or less three years now as a manager, and Tuesday’s training performance from Edinson Cavani is probably the best performance anybody has put in here.”

McTominay and Fred have taken flak in recent weeks but the former this time came to the fore. Solskjaer believes the 24-year-old was especially impressive and put in a match-winning performance on the night. While it is fair to say that Tottenham isn’t exactly the toughest opponent, the Scottish international did what was expected of him.

“WE GOT MORE CONTROL, AND WE PROBABLY GOT A MAN OF THE MATCH PERFORMANCE FROM SCOTT MCTOMINAY. “I THOUGHT HE WAS OUTSTANDING OUT THERE AND, FOR ME, UNPLAYABLE.”
