Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick provides team news ahead of Norwich City clash in the Premier League

According to the club’s official website, Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick provided the team news ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Norwich City, with the club looking to bounce back from last weekend’s loss.

United lost their previous PL fixture to Everton at Goodison Park, with Anthony Gordon’s deflected strike off of defender Harry Maguire proving to be the only goal scored in the game as the Red Devils suffered a blow to their Champions League qualification hopes.

The game against Norwich was an ideal way to put the loss against the Toffees behind them, but Rangnick delivered more bad news as he confirmed that five players would be missing for tomorrow, while some would also miss the upcoming games.

“Five players will still be missing for tomorrow, and probably some of them also for the upcoming games.”

The Red Devils sit seventh in the league table, in danger of missing out on qualifying for the Champions League next season, as fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur lie six points ahead of them with seven games to go.

“Those are the five that will be missing”

The previous game already saw the Manchester side go into the match without Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane, and Edinson Cavani, but things got worse when Fred also had to be taken off in the first half due to injury.

Rangnick also said that Shaw had to have bolts and metal work removed from his leg from a previous surgery last week, indicating that the procedure went well, but the recovery time could be longer than anticipated.

“You already mentioned Fred and Scott. Rapha Varane, Luke Shaw had his bolts and metal stuff removed from his leg and Edinson Cavani, those are the five that will be missing.”

The former RB Leipzig manager certainly has a dilemma on his hands with respect to the makeup of the team to put out against the Canaries, who sit rock bottom of the league table. Rangnick will see his first-choice midfield pairing sit out of the match, with Fred and McTominay injured.

The middle of the park is therefore predictably going to be occupied by Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, who are the only remaining midfielders in the squad. They are likely to be accompanied by Bruno Fernandes, who will play ahead of them as the No. 10.

The defence is perhaps going to remain unchanged from the defeat against Everton last weekend, with Alex Telles and Victor Lindelof continuing at the back in place of Shaw and Varane respectively. Hopefully, this time, they manage to stay on the winning end of the result.

With Cavani still battling injury issues that have kept him out of the team for a majority of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to start up top once again and bear the weight of scoring the goals for the team. The Portuguese star is due some goals, and we will need him to deliver against Norwich.
