Manchester United look to secure transfer for AS Monaco ace Aurelien Tchouameni despite Liverpool and Chelsea competition

According to Tuttosport (h/t The Sun), Manchester United are looking to seal a transfer for AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni despite interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.

The 21-year-old ace has caught the eye of several clubs, and his stock has only risen after his incredible performances for France in their recent UEFA Nations League triumph.

Although he broke onto the scene with Monaco last season, Tchouameni has cemented his place in the side this term as well, having made 17 appearances across all competitions and registering two goals in the process.

However, it might be time for the French international to leave his home country amidst interest from three Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.

The Red Devils are aware of the contract situation of their midfield star, Paul Pogba, and are lining up the Monaco midfielder as a replacement for his outgoing national compatriot.

The former Juventus man is thought to be offered a £400,000-per-week salary, but contract talks were shelved after the Manchester-based club were thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool last week. Thus, United’s efforts for Tchouameni could intensify in the coming transfer windows.

However, sealing a move will not be as simple as Liverpool and Chelsea are also weighing up a deal for the youngster. The Reds are thought to be keen on adding to their ranks in the centre of the pitch, but it must be noted that Jude Bellingham is said to be the club’s top priority.

The Monaco man is believed to be commanding a transfer fee worth £38million, and if the Old Trafford outfit does not want to strengthen a direct title rival, they would be clever enough to complete a move for the 21-year-old soon.
