Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur have joined Manchester United in their pursuit of Inter Milan ace Marcelo Brozovic
According to the latest transfer news on Gazzetta Dello Sport via GIFN (h/t The Boot Room), Manchester United have been joined by rivals Tottenham Hotspur to secure the signature of Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic.
The Croatian superstar has been one of the most loyal servants to the Nerazzurri since joining the club back in 2016. Although it has only been five years, he is already one of the longest-serving members of the squad, and his consistency has helped the Italian outfit compete for the Serie A and even win it last year.
While managers have changed over the years, the midfielder has been a key part of the team. However, that may not last all too long as the 28-year-old has now entered the final year of his contract and will be eligible to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of this season.
Manchester United are keeping an eye on the Croat as they are apparently looking to bring in a defensive midfielder next summer.
Additionally, Paul Pogba may or may not stay at the club next summer while Nemanja Matic’s contract will also expire in 2023. Thus, bringing in reinforcements would be the right decision. The Inter Milan ace has a lot of experience of playing at the very top while he is also a proven international player.
Thus, while signing him could be a ‘no-brainer’, they are now provided competition by Tottenham Hotspur to secure the midfielder’s signature, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport via GIFN (h/t The Boot Room). In fact, PSG are also eyeing a move for him.

So, competition is rife for the Croatian star, who is demanding £99,000-per-week from the San Siro outfit to stay at the club.
The Italian outfit are going through a cash flow issue and if United want to bring in the 28-year-old, they would be smart enough to take advantage of Milan’s financial difficulties and make a reasonable contract offer to the player.
