Paul Scholes suggests a caretaker takeover for Manchester United following Crystal Palace humbling

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes suggests assistant manager should take over from Erik ten Hag

Paul Scholes and Manchester United fans were both not happy about Manchester United’s latest result against Crystal Palace. The team had no answer for Oliver Glasner and his men who dominated the Red Devils in a 4-0 victory.

Another blow for Erik ten Hag who is already under enormous pressure to produce results. If things go on like this the team’s hopes of qualifying for Europe next season will be all but over. United currently sit in eighth place and needs two points to catch up to the top six.

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes was so disappointed by the team’s performance, he even suggested that Steve McClaren should take over until the end of the season. Scholes says McClaren is the best coach he’s ever had. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

“he’s had no impression on this team”

“There is no way his finger prints are anywhere near his team. No way. He is a brilliant, brilliant coach,”

Scholes also added that he believes Erik ten Hag doesn’t let McClaren touch that team. That seems to be the Manchester United legend’s opinion on the situation and he says Steve McClaren should take over from Erik ten Hag until the end of the season.

This would put the assistant manager in a caretaker role and would effectively eliminate Erik ten Hag from the equation. However, the Red Devils might not be taking such a drastic move towards the end of the season.

Things are only getting worse for Manchester United at the most crucial part of their season.

The team still has a final left to play but if they play like they did against Crystal Palace, Pep Guardiola and his team will dance themselves to the FA Cup.
