Manchester United midfield target Declan Rice claims he is ‘happy’ at West Ham United
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t Metro), West Ham United ace Declan Rice has insisted that he is ‘happy’ in East London amidst interest from Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be keen on a move for Declan Rice and has also apparently been ‘lobbying’ to get a deal over the line for the Englishman next summer. A defensive midfielder is one of the priorities for the Red Devils next season as they look to strengthen their midfield line.
Rice has been hugely influential for West Ham over the last couple of years and was one of the first names on the team sheet for the club last season. The Hammers have decided to hand him the captain’s armband when Mark Noble is not featuring, indicating how much they value him.
The 22-year-old, in turn, has now come out and explained that he is not fazed by any links and will continue to do his best for the East London outfit. He told reporters in the pre-match press conference ahead of their Europa League clash in mid-week (h/t Metro):
‘We’ve spoken about it lots in the past. Everyone knows how I feel about West Ham and how I feel about playing under the manager and what it’s like playing with the group of players I’m playing with.
‘I think you could see a difference if I wasn’t going out there and giving 100 percent, but every time I’m putting on the shirt – I’ve got the armband on at the moment – my only objective is to go out there and give everything for the club and get three points.’

The Englishman is understood to have refused a contract extension at West Ham and will only have two years left on his deal next summer. Thus, taking these factors into account, the Old Trafford outfit would like their chances of luring the player to Manchester soon.
