Ian Wright reveals what Sir Alex Ferguson told him about Man United starlet Mason Greenwood
According to The Sport Review, Ian Wright said that Sir Alex Ferguson told him that Man United youngster Mason Greenwood is one of the best talents to ever come out of the club’s youth academy.
The teenager has been a dependable resource for Manchester United this season, carrying on from a strong finish to the previous term. He scored 3 goals in 3 Premier League matches in 2021/22 so far.
Speaking on the Premier League Productions, (h/t The Sport Review) Ian wright opened up on the conversation he had with Sir Alex about Greenwood, saying:
“I was speaking to Sir Alex the other day, we were playing golf and he mentioned about Mason Greenwood being one of the best they’ve ever had out of their academy.”
The youngster has a solitary cap for England against Iceland, before being sent home for off-the-pitch indiscipline. Greenwood was not part of the UEFA Euro 2020 squad nor was he selected for the recent WC qualifiers despite his form. The forward has proven that he is a pivotal part of this Manchester United attack in the early stages of the season.
Judging by what Wright has revealed, it is clear that Sir Alex rates him very highly. The former Arsenal striker himself believes that the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford will be a great advantage for the teenager who can learn a lot from the legend.

Wright also feels that the mentality of the Portuguese could rub off on all the players at United. This could be the boost that the Man United dressing room requires at this point.
The Red Devils will be playing Newcastle United today and Greenwood will be hoping to start the carry his form forward. If he manages to score against the Magpies he will only be the fourth teenager in Premier League history to score in 4 consecutive matches.
