Frank Lampard believes Manchester United can do well in the Premier League this season
In an interview with Sky Sports (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has delivered a verdict on Manchester United and their chances of winning the Premier League this season.
Lampard, who was appointed as the manager of Chelsea back in 2019, led the club to a 4th place finish in his first season. However, the Blues legend was sacked midway through last season, after which Thomas Tuchel replaced him.
The 43-year-old, however, remains Chelsea’s top goal-scorer and knows a thing or two about winning the Premier League after having won it thrice in his playing career. In an interview with Sky Sports (h/t Daily Star), Lampard rated United’s chances of winning the Premier League this season.
“I think you can’t discount United. They were not far off last year, and they’ve gone again, and I think brought in really impressive signings”.
United, who finished 12 points behind rivals and Premier League champions Manchester City last season, are keen on winning the title back from their noisy neighbours. The Red Devils have not won the title since 2013, Alex Ferguson’s last season in management.
However, things seem to be on the up for the Old Trafford outfit as they have already secured the blockbuster signing of long-term target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, while they have also signed the highly talented and experienced Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, who is set to undergo his medical soon before he is announced as a Red Devil.
