Transfer News: Manchester United enter the race for Houssem Aouar
According to transfer news from ESPN, Manchester United have entered the race for Houssem Aouar. The Lyon star is the subject of interest from a host of Premier League sides. Liverpool have also entered the race while Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be leading the chase.
A youth prospect of Lyon, Aouar spent a lot of time at the club going through the developmental stages. It was in 2017 that he finally made his first-team debut. The following season, he was given the iconic No.8 jersey, previously worn by club legend Juninho. Since then, he has been a first-team regular. He has made 172 appearances so far for Lyon and has scored 32 goals in the process.
Aouar isn’t exactly an all-action midfielder. However, he can do most of the tasks required rather easily. A smooth dribbler of the ball, he can also squeeze out of defensive situations rather easily. The 23-year-old is one of the best emerging midfielders in Europe and proved the same with his performances for Lyon last season.
Interest in the French midfielder is rather high. Arsenal and Spurs are leading the race for him while United and Liverpool have made their interest known. Solskjaer views the Lyon star as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba, who is wanted by PSG.

Perhaps Aouar is the closest thing United can get to Pogba in case he does leave. However, as mentioned above top Premier League sides have taken an interest in him. United will have their work cut out if they are to land the talented midfielder ahead of their Premier League rivals.
