Manchester United to prioritize the signing of Harry Kane over Cristiano Ronaldo
According to the Italian publication, Gazzetta Dello Sport via TuttoJuve, Manchester United have shifted their attentions from Cristiano Ronaldo to focus on Harry Kane.
The 36-year-old is coming off a poor season that saw Juventus barely scrape into the Serie A top-4. Despite leading the club’s scoring charts, Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Turin.
While United have been linked to the Portuguese phenom, it would appear they have now shifted their focus towards landing Kane.
The Tottenham Hotspur ace looks set to leave the Lilywhites after yet another trophyless season. With no Champions League football to look forward to either, Spurs are facing a long road back into the top four.
At 27, Kane is in the prime of his career and still has three years to go on his current deal. With the possibility of him winning trophies with Tottenham quite low, he appears keen on a new challenge elsewhere.
While Ronaldo continues to score goals for fun, he is nearing the end of his career and signs of ageing are creeping in. Unlike him, Kane can lead the Red Devils attack for years to come and is a better long term option.
Kane will, however, not come cheap. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is a difficult man to negotiate with and is seeking a king’s ransom to sell his star striker.
A move for Kane may be the priority but United do not appear to have completely dismissed signing Ronaldo. An approach for the Portuguese ace will, however, depend on whether we land Kane or not.
