Daniel Levy wants £200million for Harry Kane

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will sanction the sale of star striker Harry Kane for £200million.

Levy’s decision is based on factors such as financial worries and discontentment with the England captain going public with his opinion on voiding the season.

According to the report, Spurs are fearful of the repercussions the current lockdown can have on their finances. With them still paying for their £1billion stadium, the worry is more than warranted.

Spurs still owe £637million on the stadium loan and £83.4million on transfer fees. With revenue inflow currently affected, Spurs have more reason than most other teams to see the current season to its conclusion.

That being said, Levy is understood to have been furious at Kane’s recent comments that the Premier League season should be voided if it wasn’t completed by the end of June.

If the season does go uncompleted, Tottenham could lose around £83million. A substantial amount considering their financial commitments.

Kane also did not help his case by refusing to commit to the club for the long term. He is closing in on a return since injuring his hamstring on New Year’s Day.

The 26-year-old is truly a world-class striker with the ability to find the net coursing through his veins. The £200million asking price would beat the world record £198m that PSG paid Barcelona for Neymar in 2017. (h/t Daily Mail)

Value for money?

In spite of Kane’s abilities, it is extremely debatable if he is worth close to the amount quoted. With the financial future of the game uncertain, Levy is aiming for the moon by quoting such a high figure.

United are short of strikers following the sale of Romelu Lukaku in the summer. The club did themselves no favour by also loaning out Alexis Sanchez without replacing either player.

There is no doubt Kane will be an exciting addition to our side. The thought of him getting to the end of balls played in by Bruno Fernandes sets a lot of pulses racing. However, at the quoted price, it remains to be seen if the United board thinks he is worth it.
