Rene Meulensteen believes Manchester United should sign Harry Kane over Jadon Sancho
According to the Metro, former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen the Red Devils should focus on signing Harry Kane over Jadon Sancho.
Sancho is United’s top transfer target this summer. Although the player is also keen on a move, Dortmund are refusing to lower their £108m asking price. Their stance could even see United back out.
Meulensteen believes the United squad needs strengthening in a number of areas. He believes the side will do well with a traditional number nine such as Kane.

He goes on to add that signing the English captain should take precedence over Sancho
“They’re bringing Jadon Sancho in, but more than anything, I would have gone for a more prolific out-and-out striker, somebody like Harry Kane.”
Meulensteen’s comments are based on the creativity that exists in the United midfield. With Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba striking a good partnership, he expects plenty of service for the forwards to thrive.

He believes a player who can get at the end of these chances and guarantee 25 goals a season can change the club’s fortune.
“Somebody in the middle who’s going to score 25-plus goals. That will close the gap for United.”
Among the best strikers in world football, Kane surely fits the bill of a serial goalscorer. The Tottenham Hotspur ace was even linked with a move to United earlier in the year. But with Spurs demanding £200m for him, a deal is very unlikely.
Ole Gunnar Solskajer has used Anthony Martial as the striker this season. The Frenchman has repaid his manager’s faith in him and has notched up 20+ goals in all competitions.

Meulensteen, however, believes that Sancho will be a big signing who is destined for a bright future. One of the brightest talents in world football, he has scored 20 goals and assists apiece in 44 games this season.
