Varane was a subject of interest from Sir Alex Ferguson around 10 years ago. But he has now become a world-class star at Real Madrid. He is arguably at his peak right now. Signing Varane would be a massive statement by Manchester United indeed.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Varane is still United’s top defensive target in the summer. United have also kept the likes of Sergio Ramos and Jules Kounde as other options.

More Manchester United News:

Harry Maguire has lacked a dependable partner and Varane would be a huge signing. He would absolutely solidify our centre-back department. If anything, Varane has shown over the years that he is a world-class defender.

He has won multiple titles at Real Madrid and is a World Cup winner with France. If the opportunity is there to sign a top player like Raphael Varane, Manchester United would be wise to take it.
