Joel Glazer set to attend Manchester Untied fans forum in June
According to The Guardian, club co-chairman Joel Glazer will be in attendance for the Manchester United fans forum scheduled for June 4.
Despite purchasing the club in 2005, the Glazers have largely refused to interact with fans. This historic first would hopefully be a step in the right direction.
Joel certainly appears to think so. He believes this first move will help repair relations and usher in a new era for the club.
“I firmly believe this can open a new era of positive dialogue and cooperation between the club and fans.”
United’s role in the creation of the Super League did not go down well with supporters and opened Pandora’s box as far as the Glazers were concerned.
What started as an opposition to the breakaway league snowballed into open opposition of the Americans’ stewardship of the club. Fans came out to protest in large numbers and even stormed the Old Trafford pitch ahead of our game against Liverpool.
Coming on the heels of them barricading the club’s Carrington training ground, it is fair to say that the Glazers have had no choice but to look up and take notice.
Hitting their purse strings?
Fans have not just stuck to protests and demonstrations. They have also aimed potshots at where it truly hurts – the Glazers’ pursestrings.
Among lost revenue is the 10-year long £200m training kit deal we signed with The Hut Group. The local business had voiced concerns about fans targeting United’s commercial partners in the wake of their anger against the Glazers. (h/t The Guardian)
There have also been calls from various fans on Twitter to boycott kit sponsors Adidas among others that pump money into the club. Team Viewer has also seen a rise in negative reviews on TrustPilot owing to their association with the club.

It was revealed earlier this month that the Glazers were keen to double United’s worth and had no intentions of selling just yet. Joel certainly appears to be making an attempt to make amends.
Whether that is truly the case or it is just a PR stunt remains to be seen.
