Anthony Martial and Daniel James return to Manchester United training

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have been handed a double boost with both Anthony Martial and Daniel James returning to training.

Both players have missed recent games due to injuries. They could very well make it to the squad set to face Fulham tomorrow night but it remains to be seen if they feature.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not dismissed the idea of either player making it for the showpiece event in Gdansk against Villarreal. Martial has not taken to the field since March while James has missed the last four games for United.

“I’m hoping to get Anthony and Dan back involved in this game which is a very good boost for us.”

The United boss retains hopes that the duo could feature on the final day of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The match will serve as the final audition ahead of the final.

“Maybe they can even start against Wolves and then maybe they’re sensational? It’s hard to leave players out if they really perform at their highest level.”

Both players have had their moments this season but have largely been inconsistent. With the likes of Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood firing on all cylinders, it is difficult to see either Martial or James make the cut.

At the very least, Solskjaer will have more options to call upon if needed.

Solskjaer has urged his players to do their best to stake a claim to start in Gdansk. While he has refused to give much away, it would appear he will be keeping a keen eye on the proceedings.

As things stand, skipper Harry Maguire remains the only major player still ruled out of action. Solskjaer, however, remains optimistic that his ace defender will return in time to take on Villarreal.
